CASCADA PDX

CASCADA is a sustainability-focused hotel/spa startup in Portland with built environments that are as good for your body as they are for your health.

I initially began working with CASCADA as a freelance graphic designer for iconography, but recently had the opportunity to join their team as a full-time lead in the creative department.

my role focuses on digital design and printed collateral [print ads, posters/billboards, signage, business cards, brochures, and magazine spreads], but also extends to art direction, interior design, and art sourcing.

I am currently working in this role, so feel free to check back as I add more projects!

SIX PILLARS

my first project with CASCADA was designing iconography for each of their six brand pillars.

after seeing CASCADA’s gorgeous facilities, i knew i wanted to design something scalable and smooth, yet still human— finding a middle ground between modern and illustrative iconography.

i drew a lot of inspiration from stamps and woodblock prints— the idea of something designed to be produced and reproduced, yet still being slightly imperfect really spoke to me.

FUNCTIONAL ICONOGRAPHY

iconography designed for menus, infographics, in-room brochures, and more.

the challenge here was figuring out how to add more iconography to the master list without compromising the integrity of the six pillars.

i wanted to create something that was cohesive with the pillars, yet different enough that it still allowed them to stand on their own.
